Poly Prep Country Day owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 victory over the St. Anthony's Friars. That's more bragging rights for the Blue Devils, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Miguel Sime Jr. tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over 5.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Poly Prep Country Day saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mateo Noto, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Noto also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Poly Prep Country Day and bumps their season record up to 4-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for St. Anthony's, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Poly Prep Country Day will take on Delbarton at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for St. Anthony's, they will face off against Holy Cross at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The last three games the Knights have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
