Football Recap: Mount Dora Piles Up the Points Against Lake Highland Prep

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mount Dora). They blew past the Lake Highland Prep Highlanders 49-14 on Friday. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-7.

Tymir Gaines continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 108 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. That's the most rushing touchdowns he has posted since back in October of 2024.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Mount Dora was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 247 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Highland Prep only rushed for 77.

Talan Henderson and Brady Weber certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Henderson rushed for 91 yards and one score on only six carries, while Weber picked up 66 receiving yards and one TD.

Mount Dora's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Lake Highland Prep, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-2 record.

Mount Dora has already played their next matchup, a 17-13 loss against Matanzas on the 3rd. As for Lake Highland Prep, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 42-6 win against Bishop Snyder on the 3rd.
