Baseball Preview: Valmeyer Pirates vs. Chester Yellowjackets

The Valmeyer Pirates will challenge the Chester Yellowjackets at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Valmeyer not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 7th (when they won 15-0). They put the hurt on Marissa/Coulterville with a sharp 11-4 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Pirates.

Valmeyer gave Evan Potts the start and clearly made the right call: he pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Potts has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Luke Blackwell was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Logan Blanchard was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
