Softball Game Preview: Graves County Eagles vs. Ballard Memorial Bombers

The Graves County Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Ballard Memorial Bombers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Graves County will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Graves County is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Mayfield 21-1 on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, Ballard Memorial was a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They came up short against McCracken County, falling 12-2. The Bombers have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Ballard Memorial saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was J Riggs, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

Graves County pushed their record up to 6-3 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Ballard Memorial, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Graves County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. However, it's not like Ballard Memorial struggles in that department as they've averaged .338. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Everything went Graves County's way against Ballard Memorial in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Graves County made off with an 11-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Graves County since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
