Palmview strolled past Mission Veterans Memorial with points to spare, taking the game 56-40. Given Palmview's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 531st, while Mission Veterans Memorial is ranked 1146th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Palmview's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Juan Dominguez led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Dominguez is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games he's played. Adrian Ibarra was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Palmview's win bumped their record up to 22-10. As for Mission Veterans Memorial, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-16.
Palmview's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Nixon at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Nixon knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully Palmview likes a good challenge. As for Mission Veterans Memorial, they will head out on the road to face off against Rio Grande City at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
