Baseball Game Preview: Harding Skippers vs. Grand Valley Mustangs

The Harding Skippers will take on the Grand Valley Mustangs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Harding has given up an average of 10.3 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Harding turned things around against Conneaut on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 20-12 victory. Considering the Skippers' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Yomar Castellano was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Abe Castellano was another key player, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Meanwhile, Grand Valley got themselves on the board against Geneva on Friday, but Geneva never followed suit. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Eagles 2-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

Harding's victory bumped their record up to 3-15. As for Grand Valley, their win bumped their record up to 13-5.

Harding couldn't quite finish off Grand Valley in their previous meeting back in April of 2015 and fell 11-9. Can the Skippers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
