Hammond has gone 10-0 against Covington recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Hammond Tornadoes will venture away from home to take on the Covington Lions at 6:00 p.m. Hammond is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 64-26, which was the final score in Hammond's tilt against Ponchatoula on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Tornadoes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 187th, while the Green Wave are ranked 32nd).

Meanwhile, Covington hadn't done well against West Jefferson recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Covington enjoyed a cozy 43-27 win over West Jefferson. The Lions pushed the score to 34-12 by the end of the third, a deficit the Buccaneers cut but never quite recovered from.

Covington's victory bumped their record up to 7-12. As for Hammond, their loss dropped their record down to 5-16.

Everything went Hammond's way against Covington in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as Hammond made off with a 53-29 win. Will Hammond repeat their success, or does Covington have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
