Recap: Waverly Bulldogs vs. Classical Saints

After flying high against the Southern Coffey County Titans last Friday, the Waverly Bulldogs came back down to earth. Waverly fell just short of Classical by a score of 41-38. Waverly was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Classical apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.

Classical's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nevi Wilkey, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wilkey has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Addison Yost, who scored nine points along with five steals.

Waverly's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Classical, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waverly will take on Chase County at TBD on Friday. As for Classical, they will be playing at home against School of the Ozarks at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
