Softball Recap: Killingly Comes Up Short

Killingly was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Plainfield Panthers. The Trailblazers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.

Danielle Veillette was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Killingly saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Declyn Benjamin, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Killingly's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Plainfield, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-8.

As of now, neither Killingly nor the Panthers have any future games scheduled.
