Basketball Recap: Bonners Ferry Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

If St. Maries wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Bonners Ferry, they should've done a better job of containing Taren Bateman. The Bonners Ferry Badgers blew past the St. Maries Lumberjacks 61-24 on Tuesday thanks in part to Bateman, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Bonners Ferry's points.

Another player making a difference was Sydney Hinthorn, who went 5 of 9 en route to 13 points and seven rebounds. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Bonners Ferry's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-4. As for St. Maries, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Bonners Ferry will take on Flathead Valley in a holiday battle at at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Maries, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Potlatch at 6:00 p.m. on January 14, 2025.
