Basketball Game Preview: Calvin Christian Squires vs. Wellspring Prep

The Calvin Christian Squires will challenge Wellspring Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Wellspring Prep took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Calvin Christian, who comes in off a win.

Last Friday, Calvin Christian strolled past Hopkins with points to spare, taking the game 55-39. Given the Squires' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 256th, while the Vikings are ranked 580th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Wellspring Prep came up short against West Michigan Aviation Academy on Friday and fell 40-33.

The win made it two in a row for Calvin Christian and bumps their season record up to 12-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.5 points over those games. As for Wellspring Prep, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season.

Everything went Calvin Christian's way against Wellspring Prep in their previous meeting back in March of 2015, as Calvin Christian made off with a 74-49 victory. Will Calvin Christian repeat their success, or does Wellspring Prep have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
