Newman AA scored the most  points they've had  this season on Wednesday, but it wasn't enough. They took  a  103-94 hit to the loss column at the hands of Putnam Vo-Tech/Sci-Tech. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game  last Sunday (69), the Cardinals still had to take the loss.
 Newman AA lost  despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being   Xavier Sanchez, who  went 8 for 14 on his way to 19  points in addition to seven  boards and three  steals. The team also got some help courtesy of  Kaden Bedard, who  dropped  a triple-double on 16 points, 11  rebounds,  and ten  assists.
Newman AA moved to 5-2 with that  loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak. As for Putnam Vo-Tech/Sci-Tech,  the  victory  got them back to even at 1-1.
 Newman AA will square off against Non Varsity Opponent at 10:30  a.m.  on Saturday. Newman AA knows how to get  points on the board -- the  squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Non Varsity Opponent likes a good challenge. As for Putnam Vo-Tech/Sci-Tech, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Newman AA at 12:00  p.m.  on February 23, 2025.
