Recap: Mission Eagles vs. Economedes Jaguars

The Mission Eagles had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Economedes, posting a 69-40 victory at home. That 29 point margin sets a new team best for Mission this season.

Mission got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Leon Villarreal out in front who scored 19 points. Isaac Rios was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Several Jaguars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nathaniel De La Garza, who scored 16 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Jesus Medrano, who scored ten points along with two steals.

Mission's victory bumped their record up to 11-21. As for Economedes, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-17 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mission will square off against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Pharr-San Juan-Alamo focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 35 on Tuesday. As for Economedes, they will head out on the road to face off against La Joya at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in La Joya's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Economedes has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
