Softball Recap: Valwood Valiants vs. Deerfield-Windsor Knights        
        
		
             After having lost a blowout in their  previous game against Terrell Academy, Valwood was happy to have turned things around  on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by  a  14-3 margin over the Deerfield-Windsor Knights. The result was nothing new for the Valiants, who have now won four matches by eight  runs or more  so far this season.
  Hali Thomas made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound,   pitching two innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit. Thomas was also big at the plate,  scoring a  run while  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances.
 In other batting news, Valwood let  Haidi Vu and  Abi Brooks loose on the outfield. Vu  scored four  runs and  stole four bases while going 3-for-3, while  Brooks  went 2-for-3 with three  runs, four  RBI,  and a  triple. What's more,  Vu also racked up three  hits, the mostshe's  had since back in September of 2023.  Annasten Creech was another key player,  going 1-for-4 with four  RBI and a  triple.
 Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Valwood  didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and  finished the game with eight  strikeouts. That's the most  strikeouts they've managed all season.
 Valwood's victory  ended  a  four-game drought on the road  and  puts them at 5-8. As for Deerfield-Windsor, they dropped their record down to 3-15 with the  defeat, which was their fifth straight  at home.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Valwood will venture away from home to  square off against Tiftarea Academy  at 6:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Valwood is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9  runs per game  this season. As for Deerfield-Windsor, they will head out to  take on Westwood  at 4:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Deerfield-Windsor is facing Westwood at the right time seeing as Westwood is stuck on  a  five-game losing streak.
