Softball Game Preview: Potosi Trojans vs. Kennett Indians

The Potosi Trojans will square off against the Kennett Indians at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Last Wednesday, Potosi got the win against Kingston by a conclusive 16-1. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, Kennett made easy work of Scott City on Thursday and carried off a 16-5 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Indians.

Lynnley Patterson made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Handley McAtee was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lauren Barton, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Kennett always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Scott City only posted an OBP of .346.

Kennett's victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Potosi, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
