Basketball Recap: Weeki Wachee Takes a Loss

Weeki Wachee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Nature Coast Tech Sharks 80-53. The Hornets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-22.

Several Hornets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Logan White, who posted 16 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Those three steals gave White a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Logan Beams, who put up 13 points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Weeki Wachee smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Weeki Wachee's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Nature Coast Tech, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Weeki Wachee wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 76-53 defeat against Central on the 14th. As for Nature Coast Tech, they will venture away from home to challenge Lecanto at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lecanto knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Nature Coast Tech likes a good challenge.
