Softball Recap: Charlevoix Comes Up Short

Charlevoix was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 16th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Grayling Vikings, falling 14-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Rayders of the 9-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Charlevoix's defeat dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Grayling, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-8.

Charlevoix and Grayling could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings. The Rayders will square off against Cheboygan at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (424 vs. 108). Meanwhile, Grayling (ranked 352nd) will meet Elk Rapids (ranked 44th) at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
