Baseball Recap: Desert Mountain Comes Up Short

Desert Mountain extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 11-8. They came up short against the Chaparral Firebirds, falling 8-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Wolves have suffered since March 11, 2025.

Desert Mountain saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bennett Nordini, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

As for Chaparral, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by seven runs or more this season.

On Chaparral's side, Devin Long spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 11 Ks. Those 11 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Long.

While Desert Mountain had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
