Volleyball Recap: Waubonsie Valley Comes Up Short

Waubonsie Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Neuqua Valley Wildcats. The Warriors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildcats earlier this season, when they won 2-0.

The 2-1 doesn't really show just how close this match was: all the sets Waubonsie Valley lost were decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-22, 27-25.

Neuqua Valley can attribute much of their success to Dean Michael Javier, who had seven digs and two aces. Those seven digs gave Javier a new career-high.

Waubonsie Valley's loss dropped their record down to 11-16. As for Neuqua Valley, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 22-9.

Coming up, Waubonsie Valley will square off against St. Charles North at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Neuqua Valley, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 victory against Metea Valley on the 13th.
