Baseball Recap: McKinley Trojans vs. Western Reserve Blue Devils
McKinley extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 14 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-2 in the process. They lost 14-1 to the Western Reserve Blue Devils. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-0 on Monday.
As for Western Reserve, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-5. Considering they have won five matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
For Western Reserve's part, they got a massive performance out of Landan Gerchak, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three runs gave Gerchak a new career-high. Ross Watkins was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Coming up, McKinley will look to defend their home field on Monday against Jefferson County Christian at 5:00 p.m. As for Western Reserve, they will welcome Jackson-Milton at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bluejays have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.11 runs per game on average), something the Blue Devils will no doubt try to take advantage of.
