Oriskany waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with ten straight wins... but they left with 11. Everything went their way against the Westmoreland Bulldogs as they made off with a 9-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Skyhawks, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Trey Smith tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched.

At the plate, Eddie Wright and Dean Koenig did most of the damage at the plate: Wright went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Koenig got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three RBI gave Wright a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Hays, who went 1-for-5 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Oriskany pushed their record up to 12-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Westmoreland, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oriskany will head out to challenge Morrisville-Eaton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Westmoreland, they will venture away from home to face off against Clinton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
