Softball Recap: Neptune Wins Going Away Against Keyport

Neptune's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Keyport Raiders with a sharp 21-11 win. With that victory, the Scarlet Fliers brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.

Kadidja Braxton made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.

In other batting news, Gianna Massimino was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Ja'Nyah Harris also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Neptune's record now sits at 3-7-1. As for Keyport, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, Neptune will face off against Red Bank Regional at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. The Bucs will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Scarlet Fliers surely won't give up without a fight. Keyport has already played their next match (against Liberty), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
