Basketball Recap: Wirt County Tigers vs. Roane County Raiders
The Wirt County Tigers lost against the Roane County Raiders back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Wirt County fell 52-45 to the Raiders. Wirt County has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alex Bevel, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Easton Wyer, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Roane County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cam Cumpston, who scored 14 points. Nick Taylor was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Wirt County's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-7. As for Roane County, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wirt County will challenge the Crusaders at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Roane County, they will head out on the road to challenge the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Clay County is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
