Basketball Recap: Groveton Comes Up Short

Groveton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Latexo Tigers and fell 81-30. The Indians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Groveton's loss came despite strong showings from Ty Torregrossa and Ramelo Wolfe. Torregrossa posted four points and seven rebounds, while Wolfe earned no points.

Groveton's defeat dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Latexo, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season.

Groveton and Latexo could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Groveton (ranked 1525th) will meet Normangee (ranked 493rd) at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Latexo (ranked 973rd) will meet Grapeland (ranked 302nd) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
