Softball Game Preview: Peabody Golden Tide vs. Milan Bulldogs

Peabody hasn't had much luck against Milan recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Golden Tide will look to defend their home field against the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. Peabody is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.

Peabody took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Bradford a 17-0 shutout. The Golden Tide haven't had any issues with the Red Devils recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

The team relied heavily on Gabby Shepherd, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Alexis Wilson, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs and two RBI.

Peabody always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Milan was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They fell just short of Gibson County by a score of 3-2.

Camryn Green put in work no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Green wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mia Pearson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Milan's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 18-6. As for Peabody, the win got them back to even at 9-9.
