Soccer Recap: Independence Comes Up Short

After soaring to five goals the game before, Independence was a bit more limited in their matchup on Wednesday. They lost 5-1 to the Sierra Linda Bulldogs. The Patriots were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2016.

Independence's goal came courtesy of Angel Olivas, who's now up to ten this season.

Independence's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-5-4. As for Sierra Linda, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.

Independence has already played their next game, a 2-2 draw against Washington on the 4th. As for Sierra Linda, they also didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next matchup, a 5-0 victory against Paradise Valley on the 31st.
