League recap: League lead hangs in balance for Livingston Central, Trigg County this week

District 5 league recap: 5/7/12

First place in the league standings is up for grabs this week, as Trigg County sits just 0.00 games back of Livingston Central.

The Wildcats (13-13, 6-3) are red-hot, having won five straight games, the longest such streak in District 5. The streak was extended by another 5 games over the past week, includinga 11-0 win over Lyon County. Hunter Allen's hot bat led the team this week, as he racked up three hits and five RBIs.

Trigg County boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks. The Wildcats have given up a mere 152 hits on the year in addition to compiling 143 strikeouts. Allen is the leader in that category with 66 Ks on the season.

Trigg County scored a league-best 31 runs this week, adding to its league-leading 140 runs on the season. Corbin Estes leads the team with 22 runs scored and Allen has a team-high 21 RBIs on the year.
