Softball Game Preview: St. Brendan Sabres vs. Palmer Trinity Falcons

The St. Brendan Sabres will face off against the Palmer Trinity Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Brendan has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with three straight losses, while Palmer Trinity will come in with three straight victories.

Monday just wasn't the day for St. Brendan's offense. They fell 4-0 to Miami Christian on Monday.

St. Brendan saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rachel Rodriguez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

Meanwhile, Palmer Trinity made easy work of Mater Bay Academy on Thursday and carried off a 9-1 win. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Kinsey Cerda, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. She has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last 11 times she's played. Melissa Nieves was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Palmer Trinity's victory bumped their record up to 9-3. As for St. Brendan, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-9.

Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. St. Brendan has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Palmer Trinity struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

St. Brendan was able to grind out a solid win over Palmer Trinity in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 7-3. Will the Sabres repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
