Basketball Recap: Kai Cook's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Franklin over Miamisburg

Franklin suffered their biggest defeat since January 30, 2024 on Saturday. They came up short against the Miamisburg Vikings, falling 63-42. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 68-59 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kai Cook, who posted 11 points. Another player making a difference was Lincoln Clark, who had seven points and six boards.

Andrew Hoerner continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Miamisburg, dropping a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. What's more, Hoerner also posted a 60% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2024. Gelo Leonard also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

Franklin's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Miamisburg, their victory bumped their record up to 9-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Franklin will host West Carrollton at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Franklin is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.4 points per game this season. As for Miamisburg, they will welcome Northmont at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Miamisburg also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 54 points per game.
