Baseball Game Preview: Hamilton County Trojans vs. Lafayette Hornets

Hamilton County hasn't had much luck against Lafayette recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Hamilton County Trojans will look to defend their home field against the Lafayette Hornets at 7:00 p.m. Hamilton County has given up an average of 10.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Hamilton County is headed into Monday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Friday. They came up short against Bell, falling 11-5.

Braxton Stormant and Cody Doolittle did some serious damage despite the final result: Stormant scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Doolittle scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits Stormant has posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Lafayette was not the first on the board last Thursday, but they got there more often. They walked away with an 11-7 victory over Union County. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Fightin' Tigers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Ethan Tuten made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Tuten was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.

In other batting news, Brayden Richardson was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.

Lafayette's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Hamilton County, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.

Hamilton County suffered a grim 11-2 defeat to Lafayette when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Hamilton County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
