Baseball Recap: Verbena Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Verbena and Billingsley squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Verbena had to settle for second. They lost 17-2 to the Bears. The defeat continues a trend for the Red Devils in their meetings with the Bears: they've now lost three in a row.

Verbena's loss dropped their record down to 12-14. As for Billingsley, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season.

While Verbena had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
