Basketball Game Preview: Delaware Academy Bulldogs vs. Unatego Spartans

Delaware Academy hasn't had much luck against Unatego recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Delaware Academy Bulldogs are taking a road trip to challenge the Unatego Spartans at 7:15 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a five-game winning streak alive.

Last Tuesday, Delaware Academy didn't have too much trouble with Oxford Academy as they won 43-25. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 166th, while the Blackhawks are ranked 408th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Unatego). They claimed a resounding 58-25 win over Deposit-Hancock. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Delaware Academy is also on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.1 points per game. As for Unatego, they pushed their record up to 12-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Delaware Academy came up short against Unatego when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 42-37. Can Delaware Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
