Baseball Recap: Calvary Baptist Academy Drops Season-High Score on Homer

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Calvary Baptist Academy). They were the clear victors by a 34-2 margin over the Homer Pelicans on Thursday. The Cavaliers have beaten the Pelicans the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Pelicans has come to flipping the script.

Kruz Savage looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (two).

At the plate, JK Morgan was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Luke Fontenot was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Calvary Baptist Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive contests.

Calvary Baptist Academy's win bumped their record up to 21-10. As for Homer, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 16-11.

Calvary Baptist Academy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, an 11-4 victory against Evangel Christian Academy on the 11th. As for Homer, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 20-0 loss against Airline on the 11th.
