Softball Recap: Ledyard Colonels vs. Stonington Bears
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Wednesday as neither Ledyard nor Stonington made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Colonels narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Bears 4-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-3 back in April.

Alexia Lemmon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Stonington, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ledyard will host Griswold at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Stonington, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Waterford at 5:00 p.m.
