Oxford extended their postseason success on Saturday against Starkville. They walked away with a 3-0 victory over the Yellowjackets. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-0 on Friday.

Not much got past Hayes Huggins, who gave up just four hits to keep Starkville off the board. Huggins has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ford Wade was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run. James Blackwood was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Oxford lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Oxford is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-12 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Starkville, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 15-13.

As of now, neither Oxford nor the Yellowjackets have any future games scheduled.
