Football Recap: Gettysburg Takes a Loss

Gettysburg extended their losing streak to six on Friday, dropping them down to 2-8. They lost 35-14 to the Lower Dauphin Falcons. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 322nd, while the Falcons are ranked 153rd).

Despite the defeat, Gettysburg saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Grant Johnson rushed for 22 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 77 yards and one TD.

As for Lower Dauphin, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.8 points over those games.

Hunter Strohm continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 228 yards and four scores while picking up 11.4 yards per carry. He has become a key player for Lower Dauphin: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 0-3 otherwise. Another back making a difference was Matteo Cangialosi, who rushed for 71 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries.

Gettysburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lower Dauphin, they are taking a road trip to challenge Exeter Township at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles' defense has only allowed 10.8 points per game this season, so the Falcons' offense will have their work cut out for them.
