The Jackson Christian Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Scotts Hill Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
On Thursday, Jackson Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over Westview, taking the game 6-3.
Brett Sorrell looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
Jackson Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westview only posted an OBP of .310.
Hardin County typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Scotts Hill proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 7-4.
Benjamin Yarbro looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Silas Howard was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brady Beecham, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Jackson Christian's record is now 19-4. As for Scotts Hill, their record now sits at 9-14-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Jackson Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Scotts Hill struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Jackson Christian couldn't quite get it done against Scotts Hill when the teams last played last Wednesday as they fell 8-5. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
