Concord Academy picks up eighth straight win at home

Recap: Concord Academy Eagles vs. Metrolina Christian Academy Warriors

The Concord Academy Eagles won the last time they faced the Metrolina Christian Academy Warriors, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Concord Academy was the clear victor by a 59-35 margin over Metrolina Christian Academy. Given Concord Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while Metrolina Christian Academy is ranked 328th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Concord Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alek Kornacki led the charge by scoring 16 points along with five rebounds. The contest was Kornacki's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Benham, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds.

Concord Academy pushed their record up to 10-12 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.3 points per game. As for Metrolina Christian Academy, they now have a losing record at 8-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Concord Academy will take on Northside Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Metrolina Christian Academy is on the road again on Friday and play against Gaston Day at 6:00 p.m. on January 5th. Gaston Day has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 247 points over their last three games.
