Baseball Game Preview: East Central Hornets vs. George County Rebels

The East Central Hornets will square off against the George County Rebels at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East Central will be strutting in after a win while George County will be coming in after a loss.

East Central lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Pascagoula, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of 5's match. Everything went East Central's way against Pascagoula on Friday as East Central made off with an 8-2 victory.

Wyatt Garrard looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Anthony Bonfiglio was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-1. Trevor Stork was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.

East Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, George County didn't have quite enough to beat Ocean Springs on Friday and fell 4-3.

Canyon Reeves put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Reeves was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

Reeves wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cayler Havard, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

East Central pushed their record up to 1-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for George County, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
