Softball Preview: Woodland Wolverines vs. Beaufort Eagles

The Woodland Wolverines will head out on the road to face off against the Beaufort Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Woodland's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Beaufort's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Woodland fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Barnwell on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warhorses. The Wolverines have struggled against the Warhorses recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Dallas LaChance made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Josie Mitchum, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Beaufort came up short against Colleton County on Thursday and fell 9-5.

Adalyn Johnson put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up five earned (and four unearned) runs off 13 hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.

Johnson wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Caylin Adkins, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Beaufort's loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Woodland, their record is now 4-2.
