Basketball Recap: Springfield Snags 11th Win in Last 13 Games

Springfield extended their road winning streak to five games thanks to a huge performance from Jersey Speck. The Springfield Longhorns came out on top against the Granada Bobcats by a score of 45-34 on Tuesday thanks in part to Speck, who posted 17 points and four steals. The match was her fourth in a row with at least 15 points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Cobi Mackey, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine boards. She also grabbed five steals, which is notable because Springfield is 14-2 when she posts at least five steals, but 2-3 otherwise.

Dayzriana Quintana and Kinsley Williams certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Quintana earned six points along with 17 rebounds and five steals, while Williams scored seven points and five boards. What's more, Quintana posted three assists, the most she's had since back in January of 2024.

Springfield is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points over those games. The loss snapped Granada's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 12-8 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Springfield will take on Kim/Branson at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Kim/Branson will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Springfield surely won't give up without a fight. As for Granada, they will challenge Stratton at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Stratton has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
