Soccer Game Preview: Apex vs. Jack Britt

The Apex Cougars will venture away from home to face off against the Jack Britt Buccaneers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Apex's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Apex's offense. They came up short against Holly Springs on Wednesday, falling 5-0. While losing is never fun, Apex can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 80th, while Holly Springs are ranked 12th).

Meanwhile, Jack Britt fought the good fight in their overtime game against Cape Fear on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Colts by a score of 2-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Jack Britt's goal came courtesy of Isabella Hernandez, who's now up to 12 this season.

The defeat snapped Jack Britt's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 15-5-1 record. As for Apex, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5-3.
