Baseball Game Preview: Hoosick Falls Panthers vs. Saratoga Central Catholic Saints

For the second straight game, Hoosick Falls will face off against Saratoga Central Catholic. The Panthers will be playing at home against the Saints at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Hoosick Falls managed to slip by Saratoga Central Catholic the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Panthers lost 10-1 to the Saints on Monday. The match marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

For Saratoga Central Catholic's part, Pierce Byrne was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 14 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the most strikeouts Byrne has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Ronan Rowe was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brian Selig, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

The win keeps Saratoga Central Catholic at an undefeated 8-0. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average this season. As for Hoosick Falls, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 3-5.
