Recap: Rutherford Rams vs. West Florida Jaguars
Make it nine blowout wins for the Rutherford Rams this season. They really took it to West Florida for the full four quarters, racking up a 65-28 victory on the road. The win was familiar territory for Rutherford who now have 14 in a row.
It was another big night for Shakirah Edwards, who scored 15 points along with eight assists and seven steals. That's the first time this season that she posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Ayonnie Houston, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
West Florida's loss on Monday came despite strong showings from Amani (AB) Bartholomew and Jakya Brewton. Bartholomew scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and two steals, while Brewton scored nine points. Bartholomew hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for seven straight games.
Rutherford's victory bumped their record up to 16-1. As for West Florida, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-12.
Rutherford will head out on the road to square off against Ribault at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Ribault is ranked 36th, while Rutherford is ranked 21st). As for West Florida, they will be playing at home against Pine Forest at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
