Basketball Recap: Oasis Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Oasis can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They secured a 60-55 W over the Evangelical Christian Sentinels. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 58-56 on January 3rd.

Oasis' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Austin Louzao, who went 6 for 14 en route to 20 points and four steals. Louzao has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times he's played. Johnny Cernuska was another key player, going 8 of 13 on his way to 16 points in addition to eight boards and three blocks.

Oasis smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive contests.

Despite the defeat, Evangelical Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Quez Outten went 7 for 16 en route to 19 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Drew Irwin, who posted 12 points.

Oasis' win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-10. As for Evangelical Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 12-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oasis will host Palmetto Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Palmetto Ridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.3 points per game this season. Evangelical Christian has already played their next game (against Ida Baker), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
