The Gurdon Go-Devils will challenge the Junction City Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Gurdon barely beat Lafayette County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Go-Devils took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 47-7 victory over the Cougars. With the Go-Devils ahead 21-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Uriah Gatlin and Eric Hughes. Gatlin rushed for 111 yards and one score on only nine carries while Hughes rushed for 79 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries. Gatlin also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing one fumble and making ten total tackles (1.0 for loss).

Gurdon didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jonah Jester and Braxton Nolan.

Meanwhile, while Junction City put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Mineral Springs. The Dragons blew past the Hornets, posting a 39-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Dragons.

Gurdon better keep an eye on Dakorey Larry. He was instrumental in Junction City's win, rushing for 76 yards and a pair of TDs on only nine carries, while also throwing for 119 yards and one touchdown. That's the most passing yards Larry has posted since back in September of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jaxxon Caldwell, who rushed for 77 yards and one score on only ten carries.

Junction City's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Gurdon, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Gurdon has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 210 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Junction City struggles in that department as they've been averaging 244.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Gurdon was dealt a bruising 41-6 loss at the hands of Junction City when the teams last played back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Larry, who rushed for 110 yards and a pair of TDs on only ten carries, and also threw for 57 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Now that the Go-Devils know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
