Basketball Recap: Wheatland-Grinnell Starts off Right with Win over Weskan

Wheatland-Grinnell gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They walked away with a 54-43 victory over the Weskan Coyotes. For the Thunderhawks, this counts as revenge for the 79-30 win the Coyotes walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2024.

Wheatland-Grinnell was led to victory by Daniel Mason and Branton Goetz. Mason dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten rebounds, while Goetz dropped a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards. Those 12 points gave Goetz a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Spencer Beckman, who posted eight points.

Wheatland-Grinnell wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 53-48 victory against Rawlins County on the 9th. As for Weskan, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 44-14 win against Triplains/Brewster on the 11th.
