Basketball Recap: Comer Catamounts vs. UIC College Prep Firecats
Comer extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-5. They fell 65-56 to the UIC College Prep Firecats. While losing is never fun, the Catamounts can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 606th, while the Firecats are ranked 272nd).
As for UIC College Prep, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
UIC College Prep's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Wyatt Jones, who went 7-for-11 on his way to 16 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Those 16 points gave Jones a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Coleman, who made all 6 shots he took racking up 13 points.
Coming up, Comer will head out on the road to square off against Collins at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for UIC College Prep, they will be home for the holidays to greet Rauner at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
