Baseball Recap: Villa Grove Comes Up Short

Villa Grove and Mt. Pulaski squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Villa Grove had to settle for second. They lost 7-1 to the Hilltoppers.

Villa Grove saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jesse Gire, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Villa Grove dropped their record down to 8-15 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Mt. Pulaski, their victory bumped their record up to 21-6.

Villa Grove does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mt. Pulaski, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Prairie Central at 1:00 p.m. on June 29.
