Basketball Recap: El Modena Takes a Loss

El Modena lost against Sunny Hills on January 3rd and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The El Modena Vanguards had to suffer through a 67-31 loss at the hands of the Sunny Hills Lancers. While losing is never fun, the Vanguards can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 945th, while the Lancers are ranked 344th).

Pierrce Sandle had an outrageously good game for Sunny Hills as he went 5 for 7 on his way to 15 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance gave Sandle a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Johnson, who posted 14 points.

El Modena has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season. As for Sunny Hills, their win bumped their record up to 16-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. El Modena will challenge Pacifica at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Sunny Hills, they will take on Brea Olinda at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
